Mental Health Therapist in Charlotte, NC

Others celebrate you for your accomplishments and milestones.

But when you’re not achieving or working towards something, you can’t help but feel anxious and inadequate.

The never-ending quest for external validation and that nagging fear of falling short sends you into a never-ending (and exhausting) cycle of self-doubt.

And worse still, the fear of judgment and rejection from others leaves you second-guessing every decision you make and stifles your ability to embrace your true self.

With the right support, you can overcome self-doubt, discover there is more to your story, and embrace a brighter, more authentic version of yourself.

Diamond James is a Charlotte therapist supporting adults and teens.

Hi, I'm Diamond.

I help teens and adults overcome perfectionism and develop a healthy sense of identity and worth.

If you're here because...

  • A relentless pursuit of unattainable standards leaves you feeling stressed, burnt out, and never enough
  • Negative beliefs about yourself are interfering in your life and relationships
  • You struggle to feel valuable apart from what you produce or do for others
  • Past stress and trauma continue to generate daily stress and anxiety

I can help you...

  • Manage perfectionism and increase your self-esteem
  • Reframe negative self-beliefs and cultivate healthier thought patterns
  • Clarify your sense of identity and worth
  • Work through unresolved emotional pain and develop coping skills for managing stress and anxiety

Why I became a therapist

I became a therapist to help people feel and believe that they are seen and heard. You are worthy of being seen when things are going well, and you’re worthy of being seen and cared for at your lowest.

What's it like to work with me?

As a therapist, I focus on being fully present with you. My role isn’t to tell you what you should or shouldn’t do, nor is it to “fix” you. I am here to journey alongside you, and I do this by asking questions to help you access the strengths and insight that I believe are already within you.

I make efforts to create a safe space for all of my therapy clients; however, you determine what’s safe for you. I am compassionate in my approach, but I don’t shy away from challenging you when needed.

While sitting and talking is an important part of therapy, I acknowledge talking alone doesn’t work for everyone. When helpful, I am open to bringing interactive and artistic components into our sessions based on what you feel you need.

I also bring a social justice lens to the support I offer, as the systems we live directly impact our mental health and can aid or hinder how we experience our inner and outer worlds.

Off the clock

When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, playing games, napping, traveling, finding adventurous things to do locally, watching my favorite shows or reading a book. It’s important that I have a healthy balance of time with others and time by myself.
