You have faced and overcome painful challenges in your life, but something about this one hits you differently.

You’re feeling stressed, discouraged, and unsure about where to go from here.

Perhaps you’re dealing with anxiety about what’s next, unwanted memories that won’t leave you alone, or bigger things that feel out of your control.

No matter what you do, you feel held back and weighed down by the fear that things won’t improve.

I assure you that things can improve, and I’m here to carry some of that heavy load for you.

Meg Garcia is a licensed therapist in Charlotte, NC

Hi, I'm Meg.

I help people who feel lost and discouraged regain their sense of identity, strength, and peace.

If you're here because...

  • You’re tired of feeling anxious and overwhelmed
  • You’re struggling to navigate a major transition in your life
  • Stuff from your past is stopping you from moving forward
  • You’re having issues with important people in your life
  • Things out of your control are stealing your happiness

I can help you...

  • Practice calming coping skills and self-care
  • Investigate and make meaning of important memories and dreams
  • Readjust your beliefs about yourself and other people
  • Examine what is empowering and disempowering you
  • Self-advocate for your own health and wellness

What's it like to work with me?

I’m not a therapist who believes I am an expert that knows everything about people. I believe there is always more to learn, and I seek formal and everyday opportunities to do so. I am currently a Ph.D. candidate with just my dissertation year left. My doctoral research focuses on cultural identities and how we blend all the parts of ourselves into who we are. Additionally, as someone raised in a diverse family and community, I value the unique beauty that comes from our differences and the learning we can gain from each other.

In our time together, I’ll strive to create a space in which we are equal partners throughout the therapy process. I’m not the type of therapist who will just tell you what’s wrong with you and what you need to change. Instead, we will collaborate on a treatment plan and goals that uniquely align with your concerns and who you are. I want your input as we creatively co-experiment together on what works best for you.

As a counselor who integrates multicultural awareness in my work, I’ll also start conversations about your cultural identity throughout our time. I view you as a whole, which includes your environment, relationships, cultural identities, childhood, and hopes for the future. It is important to me that you feel comfortable and relaxed in our sessions. With me, you can expect humor, encouragement, and empathy, and you’ll never need to put on a professional or brave face. We’ll initially move at your pace of comfort, and I will gradually challenge you to take further steps in your wellness. My biggest hope is that you feel supported, understood, and cared for by me at all times.
