Why I became a counselor
I’m not a therapist who believes I am an expert that knows everything about people. I believe there is always more to learn, and I seek formal and everyday opportunities to do so. I recently completed my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. My doctoral research focused on cultural identities and how we blend all the parts of ourselves into who we are. Additionally, as someone raised in a very diverse family and community, I value the unique beauty that comes from our differences and the learning we can gain from each other.

What's it like to work with me?
In our time together, I’ll strive to create a space in which we are equal partners throughout the therapy process. I am not the type of therapist who will just tell you what’s wrong with you and what you need to change. Instead, we will collaborate on a treatment plan and goals that uniquely align with your concerns and who you are. I want your input as we creatively co-experiment together on what works best for you.
As a therapist who integrates multicultural awareness in my work, I’ll also start conversations about your cultural identity throughout our time. I view you as a whole, which includes your environment, relationships, cultural identities, childhood, and hopes for the future. It is important to me that you feel comfortable and relaxed in our sessions. With me, you can expect humor, encouragement, and empathy, and you’ll never need to put on a professional or brave face. We will initially move at your pace of comfort, and I will gradually challenge you to take further steps in your wellness. My biggest hope is that you feel supported, understood, and cared for by me at all times.
Off the clock
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, reading historical novels, being outside, and doing jigsaw puzzles.
When working with me as your therapist, you will feel encouraged and supported as I simultaneously challenge you toward growth and wellness.
